ABCs of Horror – 26 Terrifying Tales to Keep You Awake at Night

To conclude in a single line, ABCs of Horror is a collection of 26 standalone short horror stories. The stories were penned down by the author over the month of April, 2017 as a part of A to Z Challenge. The nerve wracking journey demanded one story to be published each day (except the four Sundays). Upon a positive feedback from several people, he decided to edit the short scary stories. Pikakshi Manchanda, a fellow blogger collaborated on the journey and helped him edit the stories. The book was published solely on Amazon Kindle on July 1, 2017. The stories are available to read on the blog itself. However, the final version of these short horror stories as published in ABCs of Horror is more brutal, more terrifying and more sound in structure.

Blurb of ABCs of Horror says

Author’s Note

Writing short horror stories is a big challenge. A full fledged novel or novella allows you to build your characters and set those creepy scenes boldly. However, it’s a bit more complex when you can’t go beyond a certain word limit. In under 2000 words, you have to introduce the characters, set the premise, describe the eeriness, allow your characters to engage in your fictional environment and write a satisfying climax. In addition, your stories should feel different from each other. Even if you are picking a similar theme in several stories, the impact should be different.

With ABCs of Horror, I have tried to include a lot of elements in the short scary stories. Some stories are high on scare factor while some are brutal in nature. I had earlier decided to go with just ghost or demon based stories. But, I realized that variation was essential to eliminate repetitiveness.

The short horror stories also have a few surprises for you up their sleeves. I do hope that they add to the overall impact the book cast on you.
